Why is it that any humanistic aid such as SNAP is scrutinized with demands for cuts, but increases to the military budget are rarely questioned. Democrats as well as Republicans seem to blindly go along with yearly increases. Insane.
It's a reprehensible and diabolical plan, shifting SNAP benefit costs to states. But I am confused about one thing:
"That is why they want to roll this budget out after the 2028 Presidential election."
Don't they want to do this now? Are you hearing they don't plan to try cost-shifting until 2028? Or they're going to spread the costs over 10 years in budget math gimmickry?
In this economy, Snap is groceries for maybe 1-2 weeks. Before price hikes it lasted 3 weeks. Have you seen the grocery prices lately? Apples are $7.99 a bag, only a discount store sells chicken under $8. Good luck buying berries or cheese that is easily $7.99 “on sale”. Eggs are still in shortages at $6 to $8.99 at Sprouts or even 7.99 for 12 Grocery Outlet. At Safeway meat is over $12-$24 and seafood is $17.50 and up (pre-frozen). Last night had berries I got for $3.99 had black mold. Nuts are $12.99 a bag. Soup at discount stores is $3.79 a can, normally over $6.99 a can. Almond milk averages $4.99 and yogurt $7.99. Let’s be real!

We should remember that most people receiving SNAP benefits are working people who are in low wage jobs. As the Trump Administration is sending all the responsibilities for healthcare and food supplements back to states, why do citizens have to pay federal income taxes for military parades and flying Trump and his entourage back and forth to Mar-A-Lago?
